Looking for a Secretary in Myrtle Beach
Well, we’re growing and it’s time to add another staff member. I’m looking for a secretary/receptionist. Stephanie’s done a great job and I’m moving her up to paralegal, so it’s time for a new person. We need someone that is very personable and can deal with people over the phone. We sat down and thought about the characteristics we need in a person and came up with:
-
Not afraid to make mistakes – The ability to work independently and bring the finished product back without poking your head in every few minutes asking questions.
-
Computer literate – If you’re reading this on a blog, you probably have that one covered, but we’re looking for familiarity with Windows programs e.g. menus, drop-down boxes…, cutting and pasting from one application to another, finding information on the internet, ordering things on the internet …
-
Fun – We all get along so well together and joke around. We want someone that will fit in with us and can enjoy being in that atmosphere. I’m a part-time comedian, do you think that there weren’t any jokes in the office??
-
Hardworking – We chat, joke around some, but when it comes down to it we work pretty hard. We need someone that’s going to be hardworking and help move the cases.
-
Respectful – We’re pretty informal, but all have a great deal of respect for each other.
-
Resourceful – Can you find a way to get the job done? If the first try doesn’t work out, can you think of a way to get things to work?
-
Creative – Hand in hand with the resourcefulness up above.
Bloggers are always talking about the power of the blogosphere. Let’s see if it can do the trick here. I’m using the normal channels such as a newspaper ad and employment agency, but we’ll see if we get a response from this. I pay above market value because I want the best staff there is.
I did a search for a secretary/assistant position at a law office in Myrtle Beach, and found this blog. I was just wondering if you possibly needed someone part time, because I am in school. I am a psychology major and I plan to go to law school when I graduate, and go into Forensic Psychology. You are probably looking for someone to fill a full-time position, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask!
Thank You,
Kellie Fish
Kellie,
I am looking for full time at the moment, but we always need good help. We might be able to works something out. I will drop you an e-mail shortly.
Dave
I am not a trained professional. I have worked with the computer cutting and pasting, and internt research is fun to me. I love to look up different things and learn how to help myself.
I currently am in the upstate area but would be willing to relocate to the beach area.
I am one who can take positive rejection, but the negative rejection is not for me.
I was a CSR in Sales for 4 years and I am currently in the mgt. postion of a chain store. Looking to change employment fields to keep my mind challenged.
Please advise of any openings now or in the future.
Deb,
Thanks for the comment. Right now, I am chock full up of people. I have a great staff and the best part is that they're a great team.
(In fact, Kellie who posted a comment above is a college student who came on board and is doing a great job for us).
We'll keep you in mind the next time we grow. You never know what direction life takes you.
Hi Dave,
My family and I are moving down to Myrtle Beach next summer (2007) I am completing my A.A.S in Paralegal Studies and have a B.A. and M.A. in Criminal Justice up here in Alaska. (I'm here to tell you that it IS possible for hell to freeze over :) I've been doing some research about job prospects in MB and came across your blog. I'd enjoy working for a part-time comedian so I hope we can catch up in about a year. Thanks, Melissa
Melissa,
I'm always looking for good people. Of course, I don't know what my staffinf situation will be next year, but I'm always willing to see what we can do. You can never have too many talented people.
At the very least, I can talk to you about the legal environment in town and help with your job search.
Good luck on leaving the North and let me know when you know more about your move to town.
Good afternoon Dave,
My name is Isabel and I presently live in Danbury, CT. I work for the Danbury Public Schools in Media and Information Services. I deal alot with Libaries and Technology. I plan on moving to Myrtle Beach, SC this summer and was hoping you would have a position where my qualifications would be an asset to your company. I'm also trilingual: English, Portuguese and Spanish. I'm hoping this is also an asset for your office.
I would appreciate it if you would give me some feedback on my request.
Sincerely,
Isabel Varejao
Dave,
I'm currently working on my Paralegal Certificate from The Center for Legal Studies and I recently finished six years in the USAF as a Security Policeman. My eventual goal is to work my way to law school and I figured having a practical start in the legal field is the way to go. Do you have any positions for an legal asst. internist? Of course, a paid position is always preferred, but finding an entry-level position here is very difficult in my experience, so offering free services might be the way to go. My number is 467-9055.
Sincerely,
Robert Collins
