Tom Mesereau Speaks at South Carolina Trial Lawyer Convention
I just got back from the SCTLA Convention in Hilton Head. It’s always great to catch up with friends, get to know people better and meet people in person that I know through the listserv or by reputation. I gave a presentation on Blogs, RSS Feeds and News Aggregators and hosted and performed in a comedy show on Friday night.
The highlight of the Convention was a presentation given by Tom Mesereau, Michael Jackson’s attorney. Tom spoke passionately for an hour and fifteen minutes without a single pause or break with no notes. He said some great stuff. I took notes and will have a few posts on it over the next week. In the meantime, you can hear the press accounts of his presentation from the Hilton Head and Charleston (free registration required) papers.
I am really looking forward to seeing your comments, I have posted on my Thomas Mesereau blog some comments regarding the conference, and have been dying for more information. grins..like a transcript but i doubt i will be that lucky! Terrific to see you will give us some more information. He is the best defense attorney bar none. And its his past record that makes it so clear, including his less well known ones, which i am trying to get more information on as well.
So thank you in advance for sharing some of your thoughts on his speech.
Just some of my commentary on the published parts of his speech from the papers in my blog: http://thomasmesereau.squarespace.com/journal/2005/8/8/mesereau-we-lost-the-battle-of-spin-he-said-but-we-won-the-battle-in-the-courtroom-and-my-opinion-on-his-remarks.html
"After his condemnation of the media slant and conviction by media in the coverage of the Michael Jackson case, its time we re examine how we as a public want to see cases covered. If we want sensationalism and generally a one sided view then we can always buy tabloids. However, just as internationally serious issues such as Iraq and weapons of mass destruction, to a local case with local coverage, if we cant rely on the mainstream media to give us the facts, and opinions that leave you with both sides as well as the facts, then our court system will be a mockery to the public, as will the media. "

Tom Mesereau is really smart, compassionate and the sexiest man I've ever seen (which sounds weird coming from a 19 year old). But he's so intelligent and good looking. I would love to meet him someday.
